An additional rear-engined double decker type entered the fleet shortly after the introduction of the Bristol VRT, namely the Daimler Fleetline. The first batch commenced delivery in December 1969 and these were dual door vehicles with bodywork by Northern Counties (the next development of that supplied on the last Leyland Titans in 1967). There followed a mixture of dual and front door bodywork, with the last batch arriving in 1972 with bodywork from ECW.
The marque did not last too long with Southdown and were sold as complete batches to either Crosville Motor Services (used mainly in North Wales) or East Kent Road Car who deployed the dual-door vehicles on the HoverSpeed transfer services in Ramsgate.
